Funeral services for Mr. Robert William Hogan, age 69 will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Lakeside Church of Lake Oconee with Rev. Jay Thompson and Rev. Joe Hughes officiating. The family will be at the church to receive friends on Saturday from 12 noon until the service hour. Bob Hogan was a native of Pompano Beach, Fl who served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was drafted between semesters while attending the University of FLorida. He was an avid Gators fan. On September 25, 1967 he entered the Army. Bob did his basic training at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga and his OJT at Fort Benning. WHile in country his rank was Specialist 4. He was a 64 A-10 light vehicle driver with comnbat duty. He received several decorations and medals during his tour of duty. He was thankful to return home safely May 12, 1969. After returning home Bob moved to Stone Mountain, GA and started a successful pipe valve and fittings business, Hogan-Bacon, which he sold in 1995. He returned to the work force in 2000 for Putnam County as a Property Tax Appraiser, he officially retired in 2014. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Donna Gatlin Hogan; sisters,Sandy Hogan Miller of Milledgeville and Patsy (Bill) Meier of Fl; brother, Edward Hogan of Santa Rosa, CA; mother in law, Jean Gatlin of Athens and a brother in law David (Liz) Gatlin of Watkinsville and Hugh Gatlin of Athens. In lieu of flowers the family request expressions of sympathy to Wounded Warriors Project, The Disabled American Veterans, or Lakeside Church at Lake Oconee.
